Sean Curmi
Sergeant Sean Curmi has devoted nearly three decades to the South San Francisco Police Department, including 25 years as a dedicated police officer. A lifelong resident of South San Francisco, Sean is a proud product of the local public education system and continues to reside in the community with his family.
His deep-rooted connections to the area fuel his commitment to addressing safety and quality of life concerns. South San Francisco is not just his workplace; it is the cornerstone of his personal and professional life, underscoring his dedication to this community, its residents, and its future.
Throughout his distinguished career, Sean has served in diverse roles across all three divisions of the Department: Operations, Services, and Investigations. Currently, he holds the positions of Peer Support and Wellness member, President of the South San Francisco Police Association, and Planning & Crime Prevention Sergeant. These roles enable him to maintain an active presence in community outreach and engagement. As a liaison and ambassador, Sean fosters strong relationships between the Police Department and various community sectors.
Sean’s exemplary service has been recognized with numerous accolades and awards, reflecting his commitment to the community and his passion for public education. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University. Sean’s professional journey is marked by a robust network of esteemed colleagues in city government and law enforcement, as well as a profound connection with the broader community.
Throughout his career, Sean has accumulated extensive experience with the South San Francisco Police Association, having held multiple Executive Board positions, including past presidencies and vice presidencies.
Sean takes great pride in exemplifying dedication, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to the South San Francisco community.

Lucas Tvrdik
Corporal Lucas Tvrdik began his law enforcement career in 2016 with the South San Francisco Police Department. Originally from a small town in New England, Lucas gained valuable experience working in the manufacturing and recycling industries for almost two decades before becoming a police officer.
His previous roles allowed him to travel extensively across the United States, Canada, and Mexico for business learning about diverse cultures. To Lucas, South San Francisco offers the best of both worlds—a vibrant city with a close-knit, small-town feel.
Throughout his career, Lucas has served in various capacities, including two years as a bicycle officer on the Community Outreach Team and three years as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Unit. He currently works on the Graveyard A patrol team and is actively involved in several specialized roles, including Peer Support and Wellness, the Crisis Negotiation Team, and as Vice President of the South San Francisco Police Association. His dedication extends beyond his official duties, as he remains committed to supporting both the community and his fellow officers.
Lucas holds a Bachelor of Arts from Norwich University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Notre Dame de Namur University.
Over his nine-year career, Lucas has served on the South San Francisco Police Association for six years, holding multiple Executive Board positions, including four years as President. He is passionate about serving the citizens of South San Francisco and empowering the members of the Police Association to become leaders within their communities.

Michael Valdes
Michael Valdes has been with SSFPD for six years. Prior to law enforcement, he played baseball collegiately in New York and served as a youth baseball coach. During his time with SSFPD, he has worked in several capacities, including the Gang Task Force, School Liaison Officer, Explorer Advisor, Tactical Medicine Instructor, Pepperball/40mm Less Lethal Instructor, Peer Support/Wellness Team Lead, and several other positions.
His favorite experience has been teaching and instructing other officers. He grew up and still lives locally with his wife, daughter, and two dogs. Michael enjoys spending time with family, working out, and playing golf in his free time.
Michael is passionate about representing all association members and is proud to serve as secretary. He prides himself on being approachable and being committed to the members. Michael has been a secretary for two years and looks forward to being a part of making the South San Francisco Police Department an enjoyable place to work.

Stephanie Tenorio
Stephanie began her journey in law enforcement when she joined the Police Explorers Program at 16 years old with the Daly City Police Department. Shortly after, she became an Evidence Specialist with the Day City Police Department, while she pursued her Bachelors in both Spanish and Criminal Justice from California State University East Bay.
While Stephanie was still figuring out what career path she wanted to pursue within law enforcement, she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an Electronic Surveillance Operations Tech. Stephanie continued her education by obtaining a Masters in Emergency and Disaster Management from Georgetown University.
Stephanie volunteered for five years as a Sexual Assault Counselor for Rape Trauma Services where she was able to advocate for survivors of sexual assault of all ages, both in person and via telephone while working a 24-hour crisis line. Stephanie became a Crime Analyst with the South San Francisco Police Department and discovered her passion for wanting to serve the community of South San Francisco as a bilingual Spanish speaker.
In 2019, Stephanie became a Police Officer with the South San Francisco Police Department. Since becoming a Police Officer, Stephanie has worked patrol and for the Community Outreach Team. In 2023, Stephanie was promoted to Police Corporal and she is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau. Stephanie is also currently on the Honor Guard, Peer Support Team, and a Crisis Negotiator.

Miguel Wong
Miguel Wong is a dedicated public servant whose life and career have been deeply rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born and raised amidst the vibrant diversity of the region, he developed a strong sense of community and a commitment to service from an early age.
After graduating from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Miguel sought to further his dedication to his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. This experience instilled in him discipline, leadership, and a profound understanding of teamwork, qualities that would prove invaluable throughout his subsequent career.
Prior to entering law enforcement, Miguel gained valuable experience in private security, where he honed his skills in observation, conflict resolution, and maintaining a safe environment. He also developed a reputation for his exceptional customer service, recognizing the importance of respectful and effective communication in any professional setting.
For nearly a decade, Miguel has served as a police officer, dedicating himself to protecting and serving the South San Francisco community he calls home. His background in criminal justice, combined with his military discipline and customer service expertise, has equipped him with a well-rounded approach to law enforcement. He is known for his dedication to fairness, his commitment to upholding the law, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His long term service reflects a deep desire to provide a safe and just environment for the residents of South San Francisco.

Nelson Primo
Nelson began his career with the South San Francisco Police Department in 2013 as a Parking Enforcement Officer. He worked diligently to enhance the preferential parking permit data collection and system maintenance while enforcing parking regulations. In recognition of his dedication, he was honored with the Chief’s Award in 2015.
His strong work ethic and attention to detail led to his promotion to Police Service Technician, where he became traffic forensic mapping certified and part of in the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Nelson responded to numerous critical incidents, addressed parking complaints, and assisted in investigating traffic collisions.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nelson transitioned to the Evidence Department to assist with the department’s relocation to a new station. His efforts were instrumental in organizing and preparing over 55,000 pieces of evidence. In 2022, he was promoted to Evidence Specialist, where he has worked diligently to improve the efficiency of the evidence unit.
Nelson's commitment to excellence was once again recognized in 2024 when he received the Chief’s Award. He takes great pride in his work and remains dedicated to serving the South San Francisco Police Department with integrity and professionalism.

Jennifer Garcia
Jennifer is a dedicated and experienced professional in law enforcement with a unique dual role as a Police Records Specialist and a Board Member of the South San Francisco Police Association. With nearly 8 years of service and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, she brings a deep understanding of police records management, data integrity, and law enforcement operations to her work, ensuring compliance with legal standards and contributing to the smooth functioning of the police department.
As a Police Records Specialist, Jennifer is responsible for the accurate processing, organization, and maintenance of critical police documents and case files. Throughout Jennifer’s career, she has contributed to enhancing departmental workflows, improving records management systems, and maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information. Known for her collaborative spirit, Jennifer enjoys working alongside colleagues to streamline processes and solve complex challenges.
In addition to her technical expertise, Jennifer enters her 1st year serving as a board member for the South San Francisco Police Association. As a former college athlete, she is passionate about the mental and physical health of the association members. She is looking forward to advocating for law enforcement professionals, supporting the needs of officers, and fostering strong relationships with the community.

Letty Beard
With nearly four decades of experience, Letty Beard is a highly skilled Police Records Specialist who has dedicated her career to supporting law enforcement operations and ensuring the integrity of police records. For 39 years, Letty has managed complex record systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance with legal regulations, and the seamless exchange of information within her department.
In addition to her role as a Records Specialist, Letty has served on the board of the South San Francisco Police Association for nearly 15 years. Her long-standing involvement has allowed her to play an integral role in advocating for law enforcement personnel, influencing policy, and ensuring the welfare of officers and their families.
Beyond her professional duties, Letty is passionate about community engagement. She organizes and oversees various events, including the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Senior’s Day Breakfast, bringing people together to foster community spirit and support. Her dedication to service, both in her professional and community roles, underscores her commitment to making a positive impact.

Joanne Bartolotti
Joanne Bartolotti joined the Police Association because, as a teacher, she couldn't say no when Detective Patrick Sullivan asked for help learning Quickbooks! Around 1998, the Association was looking for a bookkeeper to transition us to Quickbooks, and Joanne stepped up. Since 1999, Joanne has served the Association as a part-time Office Manager and the consistent historical thread through each Presidential transition.
Joanne has been an active support team member for the past 26 years, thanks to the invitation of Detective Pat Sullivan!
When she isn't working as our Office Manager, Joanne is a full-time Junior High Math teacher in the San Francisco Archdiocese, where she has been for the past 35 years. She also serves as a Director of Religious Education at St. Robert’s Parish and helps out at St. Paul’s Parish in San Francisco. Joanne's passion for all things in South City began in 1971 when she took her first dance lesson at Schumacher's School of Dance and continued as a teacher and performer until she left for college in 1986. Joanne holds a Masters in Education from USF.
